We built a mac app that prevents you from showing things you didn't mean to while sharing your screen (the idea came about from accidentally sharing a team members Slack during a client call 😱 ). It has happy, paying users. You can try it out for free or view the demo video.

The main purpose of sharing this project and its story is to showcase our skillset when it comes to Product Design as a whole, from idea and conception, to implementation in multiple fronts (Brand core values, Identity Design, Illustration, UX/UI).

Design Problem

After the incident described above we decided the tool we'd build would need to do the following:

1. Automatically close certain apps and websites while screen sharing
2. It had to automatically run on startup, in the background so the user didn't have to ever think about it again.

Development

From a technical perspective development went through several iterations including working with several mac developers that told us it couldn't be done. We then did the following:

1. Built an MVP using the Zoom API and realized that there was too much latency (3 seconds) between when the user started sharing and when Zoom contacted our service for this use case.
2. Discovered this handy and very old package showcasing the abilities of the Accessibility API. We ultimately went with this approach and hired a MacOS developer to save time on the implementation.

Brand Design

We went through a discovery process to understand what the brand core values should be and work on logo ideas from scratch. The main concepts were trustworthiness and peace of mind. During this phase we gathered multiple visual references in the form of mood boards.
